Mobile Service
Hardware
Store-Bought Systems

Neatly packaged for retail trade, the computer is sold as an appliance. Proper support and service requires expensive local expertise, so those benefits are limited. Specialized help in choosing a system and the software that's right for you is traded in favour of a less technically qualified salesperson's advice and a one-size-fits-all software bundle. Advertising links and trial software that quickly expires help to keep the costs down as do integrated video and sound features.

Our Custom Systems

Every hardware piece is individually chosen to optimize a customer's requirements. Built, tested, guaranteed. Supplied as a package, you are in control of any features to be added, and the quality of the parts.
Software
Store-Bought Systems

Most computers come with a standard setup---not optimized for performance or the users needs or wants. Many people also don't realize their system is supplied without critical system updates and patches that should be installed to properly protect their operating system when they are online. Advertising and trial software that expires may introduce you to a program, but will not allow you to use them for long unless you pay. A computer full of advertising links and annoying pop-ups, sometimes asking you things don't understand will detract from your enjoyment. A lot of systems come preloaded with advertising and spyware (the stuff you pay money for to get rid of). It's the advertising-supported version of the operating system. As well, support cd's like recovery disks are usually not pretested, and are sometimes defective, causing endless grief.

Our Custom Systems

Have your operating system installed and updated properly, and the best choice of programs available. We stand by our programs. A lot of preinstalled software programs can be replaced with much better ones anyways, and having a specialist choose and install software that suits your needs will maximize the usefulness of your machine.

User accounts, email accounts, favorites, and operating system look and feel can be optimized for speed and simpler use. Hand-picked programs are installed and tailored for the customers needs. No surprise, custom made beats 'off-the-rack'.
Home Installation
Store-Bought Systems

Do-it-yourself. It helps if you're a computer technician. Otherwise, it truly could take many hours.

Our Custom Systems

Get everything installed promptly. Have everything hooked up correctly with an introduction to your machine and it's software programs. Important do's and don't's will arm you with the knowledge you will need to avoid future problems. Internet, printer, sound, keyboard, mouse, webcam, scanner, etc. all in one shot. Nothing like seeing everything work first. A professional home installation with an intro lesson assures fast user enjoyment. Everything including the installation of a high-quality surge protector to protect your system.
Home Warranty
Store-Bought Systems

Bumper-to-bumper warranties don't include the bumpers, believe it or not. In fact, there are many other warranty exceptions you don't realize. One large chain has a warranty policy that states: "At our option, replacement parts may be new, refurbished or non-original manufacturer's parts that perform to the manufacturer's specifications for the product." Nothing like repairing a new computer with used parts. I'm sure you weren't thinking that would happen to your brand new laptop. Warranty replacement parts are not required to be brand new, which does keep down the cost of the store's warranty liabilities. As well, some warranty policies allow up to 2 months to complete repairs! Most people realize they could have a warranty issue but prefer to downplay the possibility, and ignore the help and support they will most probably need. For comfort, stores offer their limited warranties, where the fine print is buried.

Our Custom Systems

Unplugging and carrying a computer system into a store is not only inconvenient, but some problems simply cannot be troubleshot or resolved in a store. Many times the problem you have is outside of your computer box, like an Internet or power problem. You'll get the undivided attention of a knowledgeable specialist in your home to resolve any possible issue. Under our relax-at-home service plan, we supply you with a temporary replacement of the hardware you need while the replacement part arrives. We call it 'repair-time grief relief'. There's also no traffic problem or long line-ups with in-home service, and a home repair visit often only requires one round trip, which of course helps our environment.
Technical Help/Support
Store-Bought Systems

People generally do not realize that technical support does not mean top level technical support. Again to keep costs down, help usually means talking to a less qualified person, many times wasting time and causing frustration. You will not be directed to talk with the top level technicians, as that would offset company profits fast. Talking to someone who's not familiar with your machine and your setup cannot give you the best help you will need in a tough situation. Most people would rather not talk, but have their machine repaired with as little fuss as possible.

Our Custom Systems

Many people, especially the elderly, have a hard time understanding technical instructions with words they have never heard. Clear, fluent speech aids communication during a stressful time reducing frustration, and consuming less time. Local level 1 help and support with someone who is familiar with your machine and your setup has obvious advantages.
Conclusions
When you have complete control of the computers' hardware and software, you will always end up ahead. Knowledgeable people don't buy computer packages from the big stores, they build their own. A custom computer with personalized service and support can save you time and money, and provide a much better home computer experience. Store-bought computers come with little support, little or no software customization, home installation or service. This is by far the biggest shortcoming, for a machine as sophisticated as the home computer, this could make the difference between enjoyment and torment. Choosing a computer based on specifications, for example, while overlooking the poor performance caused by the improper use of your software shows that more should spent on personalized service, not hardware.

Remember, good computer service will actually save you money.
